Popular Nigerian activist, Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has strongly criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for what he perceives as misplaced priorities in their recent actions.

The activist took aim at the anti-corruption agency following the arraignment of businessman Paschal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, for alleged Naira abuse.

In a scathing rebuke shared on his Instagram account, Charly Boy lambasted the EFCC, accusing them of engaging in frivolous activities that distract Nigerians from more pressing issues.

He questioned the rationale behind targeting individuals for spraying Naira, a practice deeply ingrained in Nigerian social culture, instead of pursuing those guilty of more serious crimes.

Charly Boy emphasized that spraying Naira at social events is a common cultural practice that fosters social cohesion and bonding among people. He argued that the EFCC's focus on such trivial matters, evident in the three-count charge brought against Cubana Chiefpriest, reflects a lack of meaningful priorities within the agency.

Expressing his frustration, Charly Boy denounced the EFCC's actions as a wasteful diversion of resources and attention from tackling corruption at higher levels of government. He condemned the agency for neglecting its duty to hold accountable those who wield executive power and exploit public funds with impunity.

In his impassioned message, Charly Boy called for a reassessment of the EFCC's priorities, urging them to redirect their efforts towards combating systemic corruption and ensuring justice for all Nigerians. He concluded his statement with a scathing condemnation of the EFCC officials, expressing disdain for their perceived incompetence and misplaced focus.
