Sounds of gunfire echoed through the air on Wednesday as officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello at his residence.

The incident occurred shortly after the departure of Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State from Bello's compound.

According to reports, EFCC officials had been trying to apprehend Bello for several hours before reinforcements from the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) arrived to support their mission.

The situation escalated as Ododo left the premises, with gunfire erupting as Bello was reportedly spotted in his vehicle.

The chaotic scene sent protesters, journalists, and bystanders fleeing for safety as security operatives engaged in a shootout.

The attempted arrest and subsequent violence have raised tensions in Kogi State, with concerns over the rule of law and the safety of citizens.
