Bobrisky quietly transferred to Kirikiri Prison

Fresh details have surfaced regarding the incarceration of the controversial figure, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in jail for defacing the Naira.

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting he remained at the Ikoyi Correctional Center, reliable sources have disclosed to LEADERSHIP that Bobrisky has been discreetly relocated to Kirikiri Prison by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

According to the source, Bobrisky was transferred to Kirikiri Prison over the past weekend for procedural reasons, as Kirikiri offers a more expansive facility compared to Ikoyi. The move, conducted quietly due to security concerns, aims to ensure the smooth execution of his sentence.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos had handed down the six-month sentence to Bobrisky on Friday, April 12, 2024, emphasizing its deterrent effect on others engaging in similar acts of currency mutilation.

Despite Bobrisky's identification as male during court proceedings, no gender realignment or surgical procedures have been reported.

Currently housed in the male cell alongside other inmates, Bobrisky is expected to undergo standard prison procedures and be treated as any other inmate during his incarceration at Kirikiri Prison.
