"Governor Ahmed Aliyu Applauds Nigerian Army as 66 Kidnap Victims Rescued in Sokoto State"

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, expressed gratitude towards the troops of the Joint Task Force North West ‘Operation Hadarin Daji’ (OPHD) of the Nigerian Army for their commendable efforts in rescuing sixty-six kidnap victims. The victims, hailing from various villages and communities in Isah local government area of the state, were successfully rescued on December 22, 2023.

During the reception of the rescued individuals, Governor Aliyu commended the security operatives for achieving a significant milestone in ensuring the state's peace and security. He highlighted the success of the operation, noting that 52 victims were rescued on Thursday, with an additional 14 victims rescued on Saturday, bringing the total to 66.

Governor Aliyu took the opportunity to mention his administration's recent contribution to bolstering security operations in the state by donating eighty vehicles to various security agencies. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, he urged citizens to provide valuable information to security agencies, contributing to the overall safety and security of Sokoto State.

The Garrison Commander of the 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Alex Tawasimi, presented the rescued victims to the governor. He framed the operation as part of the continued effort to combat terrorism in the region. The rescued individuals, consisting of 14 males, 32 females, and 6 children, underwent thorough medical check-ups and debriefing. Subsequently, they were handed over to the state government for the purpose of reuniting them with their families.

Brigadier General Tawasimi expressed gratitude to Governor Aliyu for his unwavering support, assuring that the Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring peace not only in Sokoto State but also in its surrounding areas. The collaborative efforts of the government and security forces stand as a testament to their commitment to safeguarding the well-being of the citizens.
