Nigeria has launched a Cookstoves Project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at distributing 80 million highly efficient fuelwood stoves to households across the Nation.
This project is expected to reduce traditional firewood consumption in helping Nigerias meet its climate commitments under the Paris Agreement while improving public health and economic opportunities.
The eighty (80) Million Clean Cookstoves Project is a nationwide initiative to distribute free cooking stoves to low-income earners, and households.
Job Creation: Over 3 million new jobs will be created, focusing on women and youth.
Afforestation Drive: four million trees will be planted nationwide.
Sustainable Energy Access Programme (SEAP) Scaling affordable clean cooking solutions, including LPCNG, improved biomass stoves, ethanol, and biogas.
National Clean Cooking Policy: Aims to provide clean cooking energy to 28.8 million households by 2030. aligning with national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable development.
