On Sunday, March 23, 2025, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, officially launched the 125km Benin-Asaba Highway on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The landmark project, scheduled for completion within 30 months through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), reflects the federal government’s dedication to strengthening infrastructure and driving economic progress in Edo and Delta States.
During the event, Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, lauded Governor Okpebholo’s leadership and acknowledged his administration’s swift strides in infrastructure development, citing the ongoing Ramat Park flyover as an example. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, reassured stakeholders that sufficient financial resources have been allocated to ensure the highway’s successful execution.
Governor Okpebholo expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his commitment to Edo’s development and recognized the presence of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his Deputy, Chief Monday John Onyeme, along with other dignitaries. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering top-tier infrastructure that will improve connectivity and foster economic opportunities for the people of Edo.
