NSCDC, SON PARTNER ON ERADICATION OF SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS IN ANAMBRA
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) Anambra State Command and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) have brokered a partnership to tackle the menace of substandard products in the state.
This resolution was made on Thursday 27, March 2025, when Engr. Emmanuel Hussaini, the State Coordinator 1 and Engr. Unuja Ndukwe , the Head of Inspectorate and Compliance Directorate, South South and South East Region of SON paid a familiarization visit to Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC State Commandant at the Command Headquarters Awka.
Comdt. Maku commended SON for not relenting in its regulatory functions to reduce the impact of substandard products on the economy and health of Nigerians. The NSCDC State boss while acknowledging the historical support of NSCDC to SON , appreciated the enforcement and compliance roles being played by SON in quality control and verification of products.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration between both agencies to standardize products circulating in the markets and bring to the barest minimum the number of fake and counterfeit products across the state.
Earlier, Engr. Ndukwe , the Head of Inspectorate and Compliance Directorate Directorate, said their visit was to rekindle the partnership between the two organizations towards combating the menace of substandard products in the state.
He disclosed that the influx of fake and sub-standard products into the country would be controlled through effective collaborative efforts and information sharing among the relevant government agencies.
The SON Anambra coordinator, Engr. Hussaini lauded the existing synergy between the NSCDC and the SON in aggressive campaign to combat the proliferation of substandard products through sweeping operations in the discharge of the agency’s statutory mandate.
