Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has voiced his protest to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over the reported repatriation of youths believed to be indigenes of Osun State back to their homeland by Lagos State government authorities.

The protest follows eyewitness reports of several luxury buses dropping off hundreds of youths in various locations across the Ilesa area of Osun State over the weekend, purportedly after being rounded up in different parts of Lagos State.

In an official statement signed by the Spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, it was disclosed that an investigation team set up by the Osun State Government confirmed the incident.

The youths were reportedly dropped off at strategic points including Ilesa-Akure Express junction, Breweries; Ilesa – Ibodi – Iginla to Ife Express junction; Osun Ankara Express junction; Imelu Express junction; and Iperindo Express junction.

Governor Adeleke expressed shock at the development and urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to investigate the matter promptly and take appropriate action if the reports are validated.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in response, denied authorizing such actions and has promised immediate investigation by the Lagos State team to ascertain the facts of the situation.

Governor Adeleke has directed Osun State security agencies to intensify surveillance in and around Ilesa to track the deported youths and their destinations while assuring residents to remain calm as the situation is being addressed.
