Imo State Commissioner for Rural Development and Empowerment Hon Sir Ifeanyi D. Oruh JP Resumes Duty, Ignites Enthusiasm Amongst Staff

Amidst a warm reception, held on Tuesday 7 May 2024, from eager employees, friends, and political allies in the Shared Prosperity Government ably led by His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Hon Sir Ifeanyi D. Oruh JP, the recently inaugurated Commissioner for Imo State's groundbreaking Ministry of Rural Development and Empowerment, resumed official duty.


Anchored by Mr. Justin Okoroji, the Director of Administration and Finance (DAF) in the Ministry, who recognized the distinguished attendance of journalists and members of the political class, the event set the tone for interaction between the Commissioner and participants.


While presenting his inaugural speech, the Honourable Commissioner Chief Sir Ifeanyi D. Oruh JP thanked Governor Uzodimma for giving him the opportunity to serve in this new, elevated capacity.


 He detailed his career path from Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Rural Development, to Special Adviser to the Governor on the same portfolio, and finally to his current appointment as Commissioner with an expanded portfolio that includes empowerment. 


Chief Sir Ifeanyi D. Oruh JP rallied the Ministry's staff by emphasizing the Ministry's crucial role in implementing the governor's 3Rs Agenda for rural development and empowerment. 


He urged punctuality and an unrelenting commitment to excellence. He praised the governor for his accomplishments despite challenges and set a tone for the Ministry's programs that align with the state government's development action plan.


Responding to the Commissioner's remarks, the State Project Coordinator for RAMP/SPIU Engr. Chinedu O. Nwadiaro praised Commissioner's appointment as a turning point in the state's history and promised that RAMP's objectives will be carried out more quickly to meet the set targets. 


The Commissioner also received commendation for his inclusive approach from Engr. Tony Okoye, Head of Rural Development in the Ministry, who assured him of the unwavering support of the Ministry's committed workforce.


Hon. (Nze) Nyerere Ogbonna, the immediate past SA to the Governor on Door to Door/Sensitization and former Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Oru East, echoed the Commissioner's call for cooperation and synergy, highlighting the shared duty in attaining the Shared Prosperity Agenda. 


Ngor Okpala LGA  Governor's Monitor, Hon Kizzito Onuoha, expressed trust in Hon Sir Ifeanyi D. Oruh's leadership abilities and prayed for productive collaboration between the Commissioner and Ministry's employees.


Throughout the vibrant discussions and refreshments, participants were bursting with optimism. Notable personalities in attendance included Hon Alban Amasiatu, Chairman of the Oru East APC; Hon Nnamdi Okparaigwe, Oru East LGA Governor's Monitor; Ikeduru LGA Governor's Monitor Hon Justice Nze; Hon. Kennedy Obi and amongst other leaders.
