Christopher Gilbert, a promising medical student with dreams of becoming a doctor, is now fighting for his life after a devastating incident at Lake D’Arbonne in Farmerville, Louisiana.
Shocking footage captured the moment when Gilbert was callously shoved off the dock by his friends on April 14, despite their knowledge of his inability to swim.
The video shows the group nonchalantly gazing into the water as Gilbert struggles, with one person making a feeble attempt to rescue him before retreating.
Gilbert's father, George, expressed his devastation, describing his son's aspirations and academic achievements.
Initially, his friends tried to downplay the severity of the situation, falsely attributing it to "horseplay." However, the truth emerged when a female acquaintance admitted to pushing Gilbert into the lake.
Despite the gravity of the situation, none of the friends confessed to knowing about Gilbert's inability to swim.
Adding to the distress, none of them attempted a rescue, leaving it to two unrelated bystanders to retrieve Gilbert from the water. Gilbert spent 72 hours on life support, with his lungs operating at only 20% capacity.
While he has shown cognitive responses, he remains unable to speak. His family is demanding justice, insisting that the incident was not a mere accident but a criminal act of intent.
Attorney Claudia Payne, representing the family, emphasized the gravity of the situation, questioning why Gilbert's friends would subject him to such danger knowingly.
As Gilbert's loved ones continue to grapple with the aftermath, they are determined to see those responsible held accountable for their actions.
