In a bid to address the prevailing fuel scarcity, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPCL) has pledged a resolution by Wednesday, assuring citizens of an imminent relief from long queues at petrol stations.
Speaking from Lagos on Tuesday, Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Communications Officer of NNPCL, conveyed the company's confidence in alleviating the current fuel supply challenges.
Soneye emphasized that NNPCL currently maintains a surplus of over 1.5 billion liters of fuel, a reservoir deemed sufficient to uphold operations for a minimum of 30 days.
Attributing the recent distribution hiccup to logistical obstacles, Soneye acknowledged a temporary disruption lasting three days, now duly addressed.
However, he underscored the customary time frame for restoring regular operations, typically doubling the standard duration in overcoming such disruptions.
Furthermore, Soneye raised concerns regarding opportunistic exploitation by certain entities, profiteering from the situation despite the marginal fuel scarcity experienced.
Despite these apprehensions, he assured the public of prompt action, affirming that the persistent queues plaguing fuel stations would dissipate by today or tomorrow, marking a swift resolution to the prevailing fuel scarcity predicament.
