In a significant development within the Imo State Amalgamated Market Traders Association (ISAMATA), the suspended Chairman of World Bank Market in Owerri, Imo State, Hon. Mrs. Tina Ugoezi, has been reinstated following thorough investigations into allegations leveled against her.

The reinstatement comes after the ISAMATA leadership, led by President Hon. Emmanuel Ezeanochie, cleared her of accusations of high-handedness and insensitivity towards fellow traders.

The decision to reinstate Mrs. Ugoezi was reached after careful consideration of findings and commendations from the committee headed by Hon. Udoka Mgbemere, Chairman of the Orlu Zone ISAMATA, tasked with resolving the misunderstandings that had arisen among traders at World Bank Market.

The reinstatement was announced during a meeting held on Thursday, April 19, 2024, which brought together the parties involved in the recent civil disturbance at the market.

The incident, sparked by resistance from livestock dealers to directives aimed at maintaining market cleanliness, led to the destruction of market infrastructure and threatened to escalate into civil unrest.

President Ezeanochie, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of peace, harmony, and unity among traders.

He called on all stakeholders to respect the reinstated Chairman, Mrs. Ugoezi, and urged them to focus on preparations for the upcoming executive election in the market.

News of Mrs. Ugoezi's reinstatement was met with jubilation among traders at World Bank Market, with both men and women celebrating the decision.

The Executive members of the market, including Mrs. Precious Onuoha, Mrs. Onyenaucheya Ngozi P. C, Mrs. Chibuzo Edoziem, Mr. Issac Nwadiuto, and Mr. Nnamdi Udoka, joined in the celebrations.

In her response, Mrs. Ugoezi expressed gratitude to ISAMATA leadership for their handling of the matter and thanked the committee for their thorough investigation.

She pledged to work tirelessly for the growth and development of the market, calling for unity among traders and extending an olive branch to those who had opposed her reinstatement.

The reinstatement of Mrs. Ugoezi marks a step towards restoring peace and stability in World Bank Market, with hopes for continued cooperation and progress among traders under her leadership.
