Sobomabo Jackrich, popularly known as 'Egberipapa,' the former militant leader and Governorship Candidate of the National Rescue Movement in the 2023 elections in Rivers State, has been released from captivity.
Reports from Vanguard confirm his release on Wednesday evening, April 10. Since regaining his freedom, Jackrich has been in consultation with his loyalists and allies in Port Harcourt, according to sources close to the situation.
However, the circumstances surrounding his release remain murky, with conflicting information emerging.
While a source revealed that Jackrich is currently avoiding media interactions and is focused on consultations, the army has denied any involvement in facilitating his release.
Chief Seliye Jackrich, an Elder in the Compound Council of Chiefs of Ike Group of Houses, acknowledged the reports of Sobomabo's release but clarified that the family has yet to receive direct confirmation.
They learned about it through the media and are awaiting verification directly from Sobomabo himself.
The conflicting reports have left many questions unanswered, and Jackrich's silence on the matter has only added to the speculation surrounding his release.
As the situation unfolds, residents of Rivers State and political observers eagerly await further updates and clarification on the circumstances leading to Jackrich's freedom.
