"FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Announces Appointment of Nine Permanent Secretaries to Oversee FCT Administration"

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, revealed on Monday, March 4, that the final stages have been reached for the appointment of nine permanent secretaries tasked with overseeing the operations of the nine secretariats within the FCT Administration. Speaking during a press briefing held in Abuja yesterday, following an extensive inspection of various road projects across the federal capital, Wike underscored the alignment of this decision with the provisions laid out in the FCT Civil Service Commission Act of 2018, which received presidential endorsement from President Bola Tinubu.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the lingering delays in processing crucial files, Wike issued a stern caution to directors within the administration, urging them to refrain from any actions that could impede the progress of the administration's initiatives. Additionally, the minister disclosed his approval for the promotion of approximately 8,000 employees within the FCT, signaling a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative machinery.

Emphasizing the reciprocal nature of these advancements, Wike stressed the importance of heightened dedication and commitment from the workforce, urging employees to demonstrate unwavering dedication to their respective roles. This strategic move by the FCT administration aims to streamline operations, enhance service delivery, and bolster the overall effectiveness of governance within the capital territory.
