EFCC Arrests 26 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Abuja Raid"
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja Zonal Command, conducted a successful operation resulting in the apprehension of 26 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud. The arrests, carried out on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, targeted areas including Kurudu, Jahi, Kubwa, and Gwarimpa within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, the operation was executed based on credible intelligence indicating the involvement of the suspects in various internet-related offenses. Among the items recovered during the operation were a Toyota Tacoma, a CLS Mercedes 450, and three Lexus cars. Additionally, authorities seized 40 mobile phones and seven laptops believed to be linked to fraudulent activities.
Confirming the arrests, Oyewale emphasized that the EFCC remains committed to combating cybercrime and ensuring that perpetrators face the full consequences of their actions. The suspects will undergo thorough investigations, and upon conclusion, will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
