Police Investigate Tiwa Savage's Petition Against Davido for Alleged Bullying and Threats
The Lagos State Police Command has officially acknowledged receiving a petition from Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage, in which she accuses Grammy nominee Davido of bullying and threatening her life. Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the petition and stated that an investigation is underway.
In the petition circulating widely, Savage details an incident where she expressed disappointment at Davido's threats following a post featuring herself and the singer's baby mama, Sophia Momodu, on Instagram. She claims to have received disrespectful messages from Davido, questioning her relationship with Sophia and implying aggression.
"On the 23rd of December, I made a post which included myself and Sophia Momodu’s Instagram Story," Savage explained, adding that Davido's response included derogatory words. She further alleged receiving warnings from mutual connections about Davido's displeasure.
Savage contends that Davido's actions amount to online and offline harassment, feeling threatened in her rights to life, privacy, and dignity. The singer disclosed that Davido warned her to be careful in Lagos, stating that he was going to "f" her up.
Social media buzzed with speculation on January 6, 2024, after both artists unfollowed each other on Instagram. The once-cordial relationship between Davido and Savage, evidenced by their children attending the same school, seems strained.
Prior to the petition, music executive Tee Billz had accused Davido of disrespecting his family, and the unfolding situation has led to increased scrutiny on the dynamics between the two artists. As of now, there has been no response from Davido's manager, Asa Asika, regarding the allegations. The police investigation continues into this developing conflict within the music industry.
