*HON. HIGH CHIEF OMEOGO ADDRESSES ORA-USA ANNUAL CONVENTION/SILVER JUBILEE IN NEW YORK - REPRESENTS IMO STATE GOVERNOR*
The Orlu Regional Assembly USA (ORA-USA) held its annual convention and landmark Silver Jubilee celebration in New York, United States, from the 24th to the 29th of June 2025, drawing dignitaries and illustrious sons and daughters of Orlu Zone from across the globe. Among the eminent personalities present was Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu (Omeogo, Ogbaturuenyi Na Orlu), who graced the occasion in a dual capacity—as a distinguished son of Orlu and as the official representative of the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON.
Hon. High Chief Omeogo, who serves as the Member representing Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State at the 10th National Assembly, Chairman House Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs, and a Member of the 6th ECOWAS Parliament, delivered a message of goodwill from the Governor, assuring ORA-USA of the state government’s continuous partnership and support for their developmental strides.
In his remarks at the star-studded gathering, Hon. High Chief Omeogo reflected on the strong synergy between ORA-USA and the government of Imo State. He proudly highlighted fulfilled promises made to the organisation by both himself and the Governor, such as the provision of approved land for the new ORA-USA Hospital Project which he presented the approval documents for the land. This newly allocated parcel spans five (5) plots, more than double the size of the previously available two (2) plots, reflecting the Governor’s unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure for Orlu indigenes.
Furthermore, Hon. High Chief Omeogo recounted his earlier pledge at the last convention to install solar streetlights and sink a borehole on the hospital site, both of which have now been successfully completed. In keeping with this momentum, he reaffirmed his commitment to replicating the same interventions at the newly acquired site, stating that he is merely complementing the laudable efforts of his boss and mentor, Governor Hope Uzodimma.
At the gathering, a new President of ORA-USA, Prince Charles Duru emerged. Hon. High Chief Omeogo congratulated him on behalf of the Imo State governor, Distinguished Senate Hope Uzodimma and wished him a successful tenure. Visibly impressed by the planning and execution of the convention and 25th anniversary celebration, he commended the organisers, noting that this year’s convention had surpassed the previous one in scale and excellence. While appreciating all the past Presidents and leadership of this great organization, Omeogo specifically thanked Papa ORA in the person of Nze Gibson Chigbu (Akaraka Nkwere) and the immediate past President of ORA-USA, Prof. Uzo Unegbu, for their fatherly leadership in ensuring that the organization keeps growing stronger by the day. He offered heartfelt prayers for continued growth and improvement in future editions.
Reaffirming his identity as a proud son of Orlu Zone and a member of ORA-USA by extension, Hon. High Chief Omeogo expressed personal delight and satisfaction with the association’s progress. In his own capacity, he pledged sustained support for ORA-USA and promised to remain a willing partner—both in presence and in action—for its conventions and broader objectives.
Among those present at the event were the Senator Representing Imo West Senatorial Zone, Sen. Osita Izunaso; Former Imo State Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa; Former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
