*COALITION CONUNDRUM: CAN DIVIDED LEADERS UNITE?*
*PROF GBENGA ONABAMIRO*
The formation of a new coalition, spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has sent ripples through Nigeria's political landscape. With leaders from six geopolitical zones. The coalition's success, however, hinges on one crucial factor: unity.
But can these divided leaders put aside their differences and work towards a common goal? As the coalition prepares to take on the incumbent President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, one question looms large: can they unite to unseat him, or will their divisions prove insurmountable?
This coalition foundation is built on shaky ground and will end in smoke. With leaders from different geopolitical zones, it is a house divided against itself. Can they stick together long enough to achieve their goal? Only time will tell.
President Tinubu, on the other hand, is riding high on the wave of hope for a New Nigeria. He is the captain of the ship, steering the country towards a brighter future. Should he worry about this coalition? Not on your life, They are just a bunch of loose cannons, each with their own agenda.
Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, and Rauf Aregbesola - each one is a force to be reckoned with, but can they work together in harmony?
It is a tall order. They are like square pegs in a round hole, trying to fit into a coalition that's more like a house of cards.
In the game of politics, you cannot always get the milk without buying the cow. This coalition might be barking up the wrong tree if they think they can unseat President Tinubu. PBAT has got the ball rolling, and it's hard to stop him now.
So, what is the verdict? This coalition is just a flash in the pan, a fleeting moment of excitement. President Tinubu is the hope of a New Nigeria, and he will ride this wave all the way to 2027. After all, you cannot teach an old dog new tricks, but Tinubu has got the magic touch.
