----------- URGES HIM TO REBUILD INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Overjoyed that insecurity in Orsu local government area has been dislodged, the Imo State House Of Assembly has commended the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for providing support to State security agencies which led to the successful restoration of peace and civil order in the local government area.

This was the outcome of the Resolution during House Plenary on Thursday 03/04/2025.

Moving the Motion, the Chief Sponsor, and Member Representing Orsu State Constituency, Hon Chief Engr Uche Francis Agabige said that Orsu, a once peaceful local government area in the State, was thrown into  unimaginable level of insecurity, with lives and properties lost, to the extent that it extended to neighbouring local government areas.

Hon Agabige further said that if not for the decisive and swift intervention of Governor Uzodimma, there wouldn't have been Orsu LGA again, as indigenes and residents deserted the place  for fear of their lives, while business and other economic activities came to a halt since December 2020, occasioned by the activities of unknown gunmen, ESN/IPOB Agents..

In his words, Hon Agabige, who is also the House Committee Chairman On Agriculture, Livestock And Natural Resources, said, "the insecurity in Orsu snowballed into something else, and even extended to the neighbouring Oru East and other environs. If not for the Governor, there wouldn't have been anything like Orsu again. The breakdown of law and order led to the loss of lives and properties, desertification of security formations, and displacement of indigenous people".

"But with the continued support of the Governor, to State security agencies, Peace And Civil Order have successfully been restored in Orsu. This huge success was recorded and marked by the reopening and restoration of Police activities, and commissioned by the Imo State Commissioner Of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, on March 25, 2025".

While calling on his Honourable Colleagues to lend their voices to the Motion, the vibrant lawmaker further appealed that since peace has returned to Orsu, that there is need to sustain the tempo by Rebuilding infrastructure in the local government and Rehabilitating the indigenes who lost everything. "We are like people who have recovered from war, so we need total Rehabilitation. Infrastructural facilities, such as Health Centres, Schools, Markets, Roads, Courts etc were destroyed. Our Roads are no longer motorable. Unmotorable roads aid hoodlums to operate. Orsu people should be assisted with Relief Materials like food, foam, clothes, medication etc, to enable them start life all over again". The Ranking lawmaker submitted.
