The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Governor of Edo State. The tribunal dismissed petitions from the People's
Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, as well as those from the Action Alliance (AA) and the Accord Party, citing a lack of merit.
In response to the tribunal's decision, the PDP has expressed its intention to appeal the judgment. The party maintains that the election was neither free nor fair and believes that the evidence presented substantiates their claims.
Governor Okpebholo has welcomed the tribunal's ruling, interpreting it as a validation of the electorate's will. He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and advancing the development of Edo State.
The tribunal's decision marks a significant milestone in the post-election legal processes in Edo State. As the PDP prepares to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal, the political landscape in the state remains dynamic, with all parties poised for the next phase of legal proceedings.
