Hon. Barr Harrison Anozie Nwadike, the commander of the Equity Project and a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Isu/Njaba/Nkwerre/Nwangele Federal Constituency, has officially thrown his support behind the ongoing agitation for the creation of an additional state in the Southeast region. His endorsement comes at a critical time as the region continues to seek greater political representation and equitable development.

Hon. Nwadike made his stance known during a stakeholders’ meeting with the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review, where he passionately advocated for the creation of a new state, ANIM State. The proposed state would be carved from the existing boundaries of Imo and Anambra States. According to Nwadike, the creation of ANIM State is an essential step towards addressing the long-standing grievances of the Southeast region, particularly in relation to perceived inequality and political marginalization.

During the meeting, the lawmaker stressed that the new state would provide a more focused and centralized approach to the development of the Southeast. By establishing ANIM State, the region would have a better opportunity to manage its resources, address its unique challenges, and ensure more equitable access to governance. The creation of the state, he argued, would also help to reduce feelings of neglect and ensure that the Southeast is no longer left out of critical national conversations.

"The creation of ANIM State is not only a political necessity but also a moral imperative," Hon. Nwadike stated. "It is about bringing fairness and equality to the people of the Southeast, addressing their concerns, and empowering them to shape their own future."

The support of Hon. Nwadike adds significant momentum to the ongoing push for a new state in the Southeast, a movement that has garnered backing from various regional leaders and stakeholders over the years. Advocates believe that by creating a new state, the Southeast would be better positioned to foster sustainable development, improve infrastructure, and enhance the political voice of the people in the national arena.

As the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review continues its deliberations on constitutional amendments, the call for a new state remains one of the key issues under discussion. With Hon. Nwadike's endorsement and the growing support for the creation of ANIM State, many believe that the Southeast could soon see a significant shift in its political and developmental landscape.

Hon. Barr Harrison Anozie Nwadike’s backing of the agitation for ANIM State marks a crucial step forward in the quest for greater fairness and representation in the Southeast. The proposed state holds the potential to address the region's long-standing issues of inequality and underdevelopment, offering hope for a brighter and more equitable future.
