… Warns Against Unauthorized Structures, Congress List-Writing, and Political Distractions

The Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. MacDonald Ebere, PhD, has issued a strong directive warning party leaders and members against premature political moves towards 2027 that could distract the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Speaking during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC State S
ecretariat, Hon. Ebere addressed members of the State Executive Council, key LGA party executives, and ward chairmen. He began the meeting by appreciating Hon. George Okonkwo, a young political leader from Ahiazu Mbaise, for his magnanimous effort in resolving the temporary lighting and electricity challenges at the party secretariat. His selfless contribution, made without any political demands, was met with resounding applause from attendees.

Hon. Ebere noted with concern that some leaders within the party had already started making moves and creating political tension ahead of the 2027 elections. While he acknowledged that interest in the future is not a problem, he warned that disregarding party rules and guidelines on the matter was unacceptable. He emphasized that such ill-timed maneuvers serve as a distraction to Governor Hope Uzodimma, the number one leader of the party in the state, who has just completed one year in his second tenure.

He stressed that such behaviors are more common in opposition parties and should not be seen within the ruling APC, which has effectively neutralized all opposition structures in the state.

To maintain party discipline and ensure order, Hon. Ebere issued a set of clear directives that all APC members and executives must strictly adhere to. He announced that henceforth, no unauthorized meetings should be held anywhere in any local government area by party Leaders. He warned that any ward, LGA Or State party executive found associating with any structure would be immediately referred to the State Disciplinary Committee for appropriate sanctions.

Additionally, he condemned the act of unauthorized congress list-writing, emphasizing that anyone found compiling such lists in any form would face strict disciplinary action from the party’s disciplinary committee.

Hon. Ebere further informed stakeholders that, according to the instructions of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress, the registration of new members will not take place until after the revalidation of old members has been completed. He explained that the party would decide, after the revalidation process, when to open the window for new members to register and become card-carrying members.

Hon. Ebere made it clear that these directives are non-negotiable, and failure to comply will attract serious sanctions. He urged party members to take the warning seriously, stating, “To be forewarned is to be forearmed.”

With these firm measures, the APC leadership in Imo State aims to maintain stability, discipline, and focus within the party, ensuring that all efforts remain dedicated to supporting Governor Uzodimma’s administration in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Imo State.
