Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has announced a new minimum wage of N70,000 for all civil servants in the state.

The governor made this declaration during the commissioning of the new Labour House in Edo state.

The new wage is set to take effect on May 1st, 2024, providing a significant boost to workers' incomes.

This move by Governor Obaseki is expected to alleviate the economic challenges faced by civil servants and mitigate the impact of the recent fuel subsidy removal.

Additionally, it sets a precedent for other governors to consider similar increases in minimum wage across the country.
