In a recent development, the administration of Bola Tinubu has extended an invitation to controversial Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for questioning regarding his comments concerning the activities of bandits in the nation.
Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this during a press briefing at the State House, Abuja, on Monday. Idris emphasized that Gumi, despite his stature, is subject to the law, necessitating the government's decision to seek clarification from him.
Gumi's advocacy for bandits and terrorists, notorious for high-profile kidnappings and assaults, has drawn significant attention in recent years. Notably, in a recent interview, Gumi called for a halt to military operations against terrorist enclaves and advocated for amnesty akin to that established during the Musa Yar’Adua administration.
