This time around, the College has just scaled through the hurdle of National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation.
This latest achievement in the News was achieved on 13th February, 2024 with the successful accreditation of the Nursing College by the National Board For Technical Education NBTE, Kaduna.
In a letter of invitation to Stakeholders referenced IMCONS/OR/AD/22/5/73 earlier issued and signed by the passionately professional Provost of the Nursing College, Mrs Offor Hannah, the accreditation team of the National Board For Technical Education NBTE Kaduna, was billed to be at the Institution on 13th February, 2024 for the accreditation exercise. The Management had gladly invited Stakeholders to join her and the Imo State Government to welcome the National Board For Technical Education NBTE team led by Dr Ismaila Tanko - NBTE Director of Monotechnic.
The accreditation exercise was undertaken on 13th February, 2024 and as it stands now, due to the exemplary professional disposition of the Management of the Nursing Institution in close working co-operation with the Staff of the College, the exercise went well and a confirmatory accreditation certification is expected from the National Board For Technical Education NBTE, Kaduna. It is worth mentioning that the Provost of the College , Mrs Hannah Offor had demonstrated immense capacity and competence prior to and during the accreditation to achieve the breakthrough.
With the above successful accreditation, the Imo State College of Nursing Sciences, Orlu is now poised to become a "Polytechnic By Ranking" as the Institution shall soon begin to award ND/HND certifications to their students on graduation. Particularly, with the NBTE accreditation of the Imo State College of Nursing Sciences, Orlu, subsequently, admissions into the College will be through the Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME). Upon graduation, graduates of the College shall bag REGISTERED NURSE, REGISTERED MIDWIFE, REGISTERED PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE AND HND to crown it all. Hence, HND graduates of the College are going to be eligible for NYSC Call-up and the compulsory National Youths service.
This is yet another testament of enviable achievement for Imo State College of Nursing Sciences, Orlu having previously undergone a successful re-accreditation of General Nursing Program earlier on in December, 2023 which was conducted successfully by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
