"NYCN South East Zone Pledges Support for Political Solution in Freeing Nnamdi Kanu, Emphasizes Commitment to Peace and Unity"
The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, south east zone, has pledged support for the ongoing political solution to free the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The group however warned those who hide under the Biafra agitation to Perpetrate criminality in Southeast to desist from the wanton destruction of Lives and Property, which they said has heightened insecurity in the Zone.
NYCN made the pledge shortly after the ratification of it’s new Vice President in charge of the south east zone, Comrade Henry Atigwe and Comrade Egwuatu Samuel as the new Zonal Secretary/Organizing Secretary of NYCN South East, in Enugu during the weekend.
The new leadership followed the suspension and removal from office of the former Vice President and Organising Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, in the south east zone.
In a communique read by the south east Board of Trustees, BoT, representative, Hon. Chief Herbert Aneke, the youth council told the National President, Secretary, the Board of Trustee and the entire National Executive Committee, NEC, of NYCN, “that we are committed to lasting peace and unity of Southeast in Particular and Nigeria at large.
“That we have resolved also to support the peace initiative of the Southeast Governors and the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, as encapsulated in the Peace initiative in Southeast. (PISE)
“That we support the renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, and urge him to take urgent steps in addressing the infrastructural deficit in Southeast in order to revive the Economy of the Zone.
“That we are in support of the Political solutions being proffered for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kalu, and warned those who hide under the Biafra agitation to Perpetrate criminality in Southeast to desist from the wanton up destruction of Lives and Property, which has heightened insecurity in the Zone.”
“That based on the suspension and removal in office of the two National Officers on the 18th day of January 2024 a vacuum created, and the Southeast Zonal Management/Stakeholders of NYCN in their resolve and determination to reposition the Zone in order to move it forward, resolved to fill the vacuum with Comr. Dr Atigwe Henry Ifeanyi and Comr. Egwuatu Samuel, respectively.
“That we the Stakeholders/Management, here by renew our commitment in supporting the Amb. Sukubo Saraigbe Sukubo led National Leadership of NYCN, and thanked him for championing the course of Nigeria Youths.”
