Jos – In a disturbing series of events, over 30 communities in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi local government areas witnessed violent clashes resulting in almost 200 casualties, 1,000 homes destroyed, and numerous injuries. Survivors recount harrowing experiences, urging authorities to take decisive action.
From December 23rd to 25th, several communities, including Mutfet, Ndun, Sanyan, Kyong, and others, were targeted, leading to a wave of destruction. Survivors like Mrs. Uren Matthew and Mercy Makut share chilling accounts of escaping machete attacks and the heart-wrenching loss of loved ones.
Evangelist John Mahan details the attack on his church during Christmas Eve preparations, resulting in the death of over 20 church members. Despite promises of justice from government officials, residents express skepticism and appeal for tangible actions to bring perpetrators to account.
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, accompanied by key security figures, reassures the affected communities, pledging the government's commitment to ensuring justice and preventing future occurrences. Governor Caleb Mutfwang echoes this commitment, emphasizing the administration's determination to end the cycle of violence.
