"Enugu Police Apprehend Eight Suspects Linked to Assassination of Adani Autonomous Community's Traditional Ruler, Igwe Ezugwu Patrick"
In a swift response to the shocking assassination of Igwe Ezugwu Patrick, the revered traditional ruler of Adani Autonomous Community in the Uzo Uwani council area of Enugu State, the Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of eight suspects believed to be connected to the heinous crime.
Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, disclosed the developments during a visit to the community on Monday. Expressing the gravity of the situation, Uzuegbu assured the community that both the masterminds and the executors of this criminal act would face the full force of the law. He conveyed the directive from the governor of Enugu State, emphasizing the state's zero-tolerance policy for crime.
"The governor of Enugu State said I should relocate to this local government and ensure that all those responsible for this unfortunate act are apprehended in line with the state’s zero tolerance for crime," stated Uzuegbu, underscoring the seriousness with which the state authorities view the incident.
The Commissioner of Police went on to detail the swift response by dispatching teams from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Area Command to the community. He affirmed that the investigation was ongoing and pledged to apprehend all those involved in the murder, assuring the community that the criminals would not go unpunished.
During the visit, President-General of the community, Chief S.N Utazi, expressed gratitude for the prompt response from the state government. Utazi, while briefing the CP, emphasized that the community had been at peace in recent times, making the unexpected crime even more shocking. He called on the police to continue the manhunt for any remaining suspects.
The community’s traditional prime minister, Dr. Obinna Ayogu, echoed the sentiments of shock and condemned the murder of the monarch. Ayogu commended the governor and security agencies for their swift and positive steps to reassure the community and the local government of their safety. As investigations unfold, the Enugu State Police remain committed to ensuring that justice is served in this tragic incident.
